LIV North hosts virtual Biggest Winner Challenge to participants across Canada

LIV North Fitness Management has developed and delivered a successful Biggest Winner challenge and utilized it across their managed facilities for years.  2022 saw the challenge go virtual for participants from coast-to-coast with some outstanding results and participants feedback.

Below is a brief summary of the Biggest Winner challenge and the participants feedback.  For more information on LIV North programming, contact us at virtual@livnorth.com.

The virtual Biggest Winner challenge is a 6-8 week healthy living challenge that provides participants with the following resources:

  • Healthy eating meal plan and recipe guide
  • Weekly motivational challenges based on various pillars of wellness
  • Access to live and on demand fitness, mindfulness and stretching sessions
  • Goal setting workshops
  • Regular self assessments with instructions, how-to videos and result comparisons

An important note is that the Biggest Winner is not a weight loss challenge.  While assessments are done for tracking, they do not play a role in winners.  Winners are always selected based on participation in weekly challenges, virtual sessions, and their engagement.  Habit changes often lead to weight or inches being lost, but that is not the goal of this challenge.

As mentioned, LIV North has run the Biggest Winner challenge in our on site facility for many years with high participation numbers and amazing feedback.  Below are the results and some feedback from the virtual Biggest Winner challenge.

LIV North Hosts Mental Health Series

As the Canadian leader in fitness management, LIV North knows how important the topic of mental health and wellness is to business owners and managers.  When the New Year came and provinces such as Ontario reinstated COVID-19 restrictions, we wanted to offer some of our expertise to our clients and members.

The following is a brief summary of our 6 part series Navigating Mental Health Through the Pandemic.  These live virtual sessions were held over a 3 week period on our Optimal by LIV North platform and were free to access by all of our users.  The series is now also available on demand on Optimal.

If your organization is interested in having this series presented live or receiving access to the on demand content, reach out to us at virtual@livnorth.com

Summary of Mental Health Series:

Our bodies, behaviors, thoughts and emotions give us notifications that we are experiencing stress. Unfortunately, many of us over-ride these warning lights for weeks before we are forced to deal with them due to a health crisis. The symptoms of stress vary for each person, and you can experience them physically, emotionally and behaviorally. It’s helpful that you recognize these so that you can take action to reduce the stress and reach out for help earlier. It’s also helpful to recognize these behaviors in others so that you can be more compassionate towards them and help them.

Through the 6 part Mental Health Series you will follow Lindsay in these short, 20 minute sessions and explore aspects of mental health such as :

  • Social connections;
  • Self care;
  • The role social media play in mental health;
  • Unrecognized thought patterns, and;
  • Techniques for combating and recognizing mental health concerns early.

Mindfulness can help us to recognize our thoughts as they arise, and choose to direct our attention elsewhere.  LIV North offers live mindfulness sessions 5 days a week to all Optimal users as well as a large library of on demand sessions.

Top 5 Reasons to Lifeguard with LIV North

As we spring into Spring, and look towards summer, we can’t help but get excited for the opening of outdoor pools. These pools openings means we’re looking for lifeguards to join our team. We share our top 5 reasons to lifeguard with LIV North this summer:

1. Responsibility

Nothing tells an employer more about your ability to be responsible than seeing Lifeguard on your resume. Lifeguarding comes with a higher level of responsibility than most jobs, as the primary purpose of the job is to ensure the safety of the facility. Being a guard tells employers that you are able to ensure a completely safe environment by paying attention to detail in every part of a facility.

2. Leadership

As a lifeguard, the swimmers (or sunbathers) who come into the pool area are relying on you to ensure their safety. The vast majority of lifeguarding is “preventative lifeguarding” – stopping situations before they develop – and being a leader is all about being proactive and taking initiative.

3. Communication/Teamwork

As a guard with LIV North, you are an essential part of a large team, working together to create the most positive experiences for the swimmers we serve. Our team consists of lifeguards, supervisors, service and maintenance technicians, schedulers, and managers who all communicate and work together to ensure the safe and smooth operations of any given facility. Working as a team is a great way to make connections and build positive relationships with the people you work with

4. Flexible Schedules

Being part of a team also allows for flexible schedules. Whether you’re wanting to make the most of your availability this summer, or just want to pick up a shift or two around your summer school schedule, being a Lifeguard at LIV North allows for the flexibility of working with your scheduler to fix work around your schedule. LIV North serves pools all across the GTA and in London, ON, which also means that we are always looking to staff you at a pool that is as close to home as possible.

5. Remaining Healthy and Active

Being a lifeguard outside is a great way to soak up rays and promote healthy active living, while getting paid at the same time. Lifeguarding is not just about the safety of the facility, but providing customer service and making connections with the swimmers. It’s the perfect opportunity to get up from the sofa, desk, or lecture halls and encourage others to continue to do the same!

Apply now for a summer of fun and discover the possibilities of working with LIV North!
